Who We Insure

Insurance for Camps & Youth Programs

Camps compress a year of exposure into a few weeks — new staff, new participants, physical activity, transport and overnight supervision, all at once.

The Specifics

What actually goes
wrong here.

01

Seasonal staff and volunteers

Your supervision team is often newly hired and newly trained each season. Coverage needs to be in place before the season starts, not once it is running.

02

Physical activity and the outdoors

Swimming, climbing, sports and field activity produce injuries that ordinary office-based organizations never encounter.

03

Overnight supervision of minors

Residential camps carry the same abuse and molestation exposure as any organization responsible for children overnight, and it is excluded from standard policies.

How We Work

We read the contract
before we quote it.

Since 1986 we have placed coverage for the organizations that care for people across California — nonprofit and for-profit alike. That means reading the funding contract, the lease and the program description before we go to market, so the policy matches how you actually operate.

We also include free unlimited access to HR specialists, and we don’t charge a broker fee with most of our insurance programs.

Questions

Questions we
get asked.

Usually yes for liability, since claims can be reported long after the season ends. We can talk through how the policy period should work for a seasonal operation.
Paid counselors fall under workers’ compensation. Volunteer counselors usually do not, which is where a volunteer accident policy applies.
That is non-owned auto exposure and should be confirmed before the season begins.
